DaVinci Resolve setup

Filmit Studio runs inside DaVinci Resolve, but it gets there differently than it does in After Effects and Premiere Pro. In Resolve it is a Workflow Integration, not a Window > Extensions panel, and our effects and transitions live in Resolve’s own OpenFX library.

Here is the full walkthrough:

Install

You do not install the Resolve integration separately. When you go through the Filmit Studio tour in the desktop app, it installs Filmit Studio for DaVinci Resolve for you.

If Resolve was open during the install, restart it. Resolve looks for Workflow Integrations when it launches.

Open Filmit Studio in Resolve

1. Open DaVinci Resolve.
2. Go to Workspaces > Workflow Integrations > Filmit Studio.
3. The Filmit Studio panel opens inside Resolve.

If you are already signed in through the desktop app, you are signed in here too. If not, sign in directly in the panel with Google or with your account.

Run your tools

Your installed tools are listed down the left side of the panel. Click one to open it, or use the sidebar toggle. You can collapse the sidebar to give yourself more working room.

Each tool has its own settings panel, tied to that tool. There is also a Contact Support button in the panel if you need us.

The panel shows your live tools alongside our roadmap, so you can see what is coming to Resolve next. More tools are on the way.

Apply effects and transitions

Our effects and transitions are native to Resolve, so you apply them the way you apply any other Resolve effect, not from the Filmit Studio panel.

1. In Resolve, open the Effects library.
2. Open Filters and find the Filmit effects.
3. Drag an effect onto a clip, or drag a transition onto the cut between two clips.

Updates

When there is an update, you will see it in the panel and in the desktop app. Use the Open Studio App button to run it. Updating Filmit Studio also updates your installed tools.

Restart Resolve after an update so it picks up the new version.

Your account

The profile menu in the panel covers the rest: manage your account, open the Studio app, join the Discord, join the Reddit community, contact support, or sign out.

Do not see Filmit Studio in Resolve?

• Restart Resolve. It enumerates Workflow Integrations at launch, so a Resolve that was open during install will not show it yet.
• Confirm Filmit Studio finished installing in the desktop app.
