Claude Code, Codex and other apps

Filmit MCP isn’t only for the Claude chat app. The same actions work from ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex and other AI apps that support MCP.

Whichever app you use, Filmit Studio must be open with the MCP switch on in each editing app, as in Step 1 of the setup.

Claude on the web, desktop and phone

One connection covers all of them. Once you’ve connected Filmit in Claude (setup), it’s available in Claude on the web, in the desktop app (chat and the Code tab) and on your phone, because Claude keeps connectors on your account.

Claude Code

If you use Claude Code signed in with the same Claude account, the Filmit connector you added in Claude is already there.

To add it to Claude Code directly instead, run:

claude mcp add --transport http filmit https://mcp.filmit.io/mcp

Then type /mcp in Claude Code, pick filmit, and sign in with your Filmit account.

Codex

Codex runs Filmit on your own computer:

1. In Filmit Studio, open the MCP tab.
2. Open More ways to connect and click Connect next to Codex.
3. Restart Codex, then ask about your project.

The Codex row only shows when Codex is installed on the computer.

Cursor, Windsurf and other MCP apps

1. In Filmit Studio, open the MCP tab.
2. Open More ways to connect and click Other AI apps. This copies a ready-made setup.
3. Paste it into your app’s MCP settings and restart the app.

This setup runs on your computer and talks to your editing apps directly.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to the same Filmit connector as Claude, with the same actions.

1. In Filmit Studio, open the MCP tab and make sure the switch is on in each editing app you want ChatGPT to reach.
2. In ChatGPT, open Plugins, click the + button and choose Add custom MCP server. If your ChatGPT shows Settings → Connectors with Developer mode instead, turn Developer mode on and click Create there.
3. Name it Filmit, paste the connector address below as the server URL, and choose OAuth sign-in if ChatGPT asks.
4. ChatGPT opens the Filmit sign-in page. Sign in with your Filmit account, by password or Google.
5. In a new chat with Filmit turned on, ask “What is in my open Premiere Pro sequence?” to check it is connected.

Custom MCP servers are a ChatGPT feature, and which ChatGPT plans include them is up to OpenAI. The MCP tab in Filmit Studio may still list ChatGPT as coming next; adding the server in ChatGPT works without it.
