Filmit MCP gives Claude a set of actions in each app. Claude picks the actions it needs from what you ask, so you never have to name them. This page lists them by task, using the names you see in Claude’s connector settings, so you know what to ask for and what to allow.
Every action works in the project you have open, on your own computer. Nothing is uploaded except what Claude reads back: names, timings, settings, and a frame when it asks to look at one.

In every app
Which apps are connected tells Claude which of your apps are open and connected right now. On a free account it also says how many of today’s free actions you have used.
RoughCut and Editor actions
You may also see actions for RoughCut and Editor projects in Claude’s list. They work with Filmit Studio online, which isn’t open to everyone yet, so they aren’t covered here.
What Claude can’t do
Some things are out of reach, mostly because the app itself doesn’t let add-ons do them. Claude tells you when it hits one of these.
Premiere Pro
Captions already on a caption track can’t be moved or restyled. Claude can import captions, and you can restyle them in Premiere.
Claude can add effects and change their settings, but can’t remove an effect or switch it off. Ask Claude to set it back to neutral values, or remove it in Effect Controls.
Colour settings can be changed, but not animated with keyframes.
Some of Premiere’s own built-in graphics templates don’t let add-ons change their text. If the text doesn’t change, edit it in the Essential Graphics panel. Templates made in After Effects work.
After Effects
Masks are rectangles. For other shapes, Claude can build a shape layer and use it as a track matte.
DaVinci Resolve
No splitting clips in place, no effects or transitions, no keyframes, no clip volume. Cutting a section out builds a new timeline instead.
A clip can’t be placed over another one. It goes on the next free track, and Claude tells you where.
Keep the Filmit Studio window open while Claude works.
