Troubleshooting Filmit MCP

Claude says your editing app is not connected

  • Open Filmit Studio in that app (Window → Extensions → Filmit Studio, or in Resolve Workspace → Workflow Integrations → Filmit Studio) and check the MCP switch is on.
  • Keep the app open while you work with Claude. In Resolve, keep the Filmit Studio window open too.
  • Ask Claude “which Filmit apps are connected?” to see what it can reach.

Claude says the app “is not answering”

The app was connected but stopped responding. Usually the computer went to sleep, the app was closed, or a dialog is open in the app.

Wake the computer or bring the app back to the front, close any open dialog, then ask Claude to carry on. An action that never reached your app doesn’t count toward your free actions.

The panel has no MCP tab

Update Filmit Studio so it installs the latest panel, then restart your editing app.

Sign-in didn’t finish

Go back to Claude and click Connect on the Filmit connector again.

”fetch failed” or a connection timeout in the panel

This is usually the network. Make sure Filmit Studio is up to date: recent versions handle networks where IPv6 is broken. If it still happens, try another network (a phone hotspot is a quick test) and tell us which network it fails on.

Claude says you’ve used today’s free actions, but you’re on Pro

Wait half a minute and say “carry on”. If it still says so, disconnect Filmit in Claude’s Settings → Connectors and connect it again. More in Free actions and limits.

”Too many Filmit actions in one minute”

Claude went faster than 60 actions a minute. Wait a minute, then tell it to carry on from where it stopped.

Claude changed the wrong clip

Clip numbers shift after edits. Undo the change (Ctrl+Z or Cmd+Z), then ask Claude to read the sequence again before the next edit. Pointing at clips by time, or selecting them and saying “the selected clips”, avoids it.

An effect setting comes back as “missing”

Settings have different names in every effect and plugin. Ask Claude to read the clip’s effects first (“what effects are on clip 2 and what are their settings?”), then ask again. Claude gets the exact names from that read.

Claude won’t change an animated setting

That’s on purpose: a single value would wipe the keyframes already there. Ask Claude to add keyframes instead, or say “replace the keyframes” if you do want them gone.

More than one copy of the app is connected

If the same app is open on two computers, or two versions are open on one, Claude uses the one you brought to the front most recently. Turn Filmit MCP off in the copy you’re not using to keep it simple.

Still stuck?

Send us a message or write to support@filmit.io. Tell us which app and version you use, and what Claude said.
