How we use cookies and similar technologies on our website and in Filmit Studio.
This Cookie Policy explains how FILMIT LLC, doing business as Filmit.io, uses cookies, local storage, and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website or use Filmit Studio. It supplements our Privacy Policy and gives you the details you need to make informed choices about your data.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device when you visit them. They help websites remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how you interact with the site. Some cookies are essential for the site to function, while others help us improve your experience.
We also use “local storage,” a similar browser technology that stores data locally on your device. Local storage does not expire automatically like some cookies do, but you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Advertising cookies, currently the Meta Pixel and the Google Ads tags, are set only with your consent, and are used to measure our own ad campaigns and to show our ads to people who have visited our site. If you decline, no analytics or advertising cookies are set. We do not sell cookie data to third parties.
We may add or remove analytics and advertising services from time to time. Any new service is subject to the same consent gate described in this policy, and we will update the tables above and the list in Section 04 when we do.
Local Storage
In addition to cookies, we use browser local storage for the following purposes:

Filmit Studio (Desktop Application)
The Filmit Studio desktop application stores data locally on your computer using standard Electron storage mechanisms. This includes:
- Authentication session tokens (JWT) to keep you signed in
- Application preferences (theme, language, window size)
- Cached license status for offline access
- Plugin install state and version information
- Diagnostic logs (recent actions and error details) written by Filmit Studio, the Filmit panel, and our plugins
- Filmit MCP settings and pairing keys, only if you switch Filmit MCP on
The Software also sends the following to us or to our service providers: authentication and license verification data, including a device fingerprint used to enforce activation limits; plugin install and update events; and, only if you have turned analytics on in the app, product usage analytics collected through PostHog, covering screens viewed, in-app interactions, application version, and operating system type, associated with your account. The same choice covers our plugins for Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, and DaVinci Resolve: when analytics are on, each plugin reports which plugin was opened, whether an action finished or failed, a short error message with file names, paths, and web addresses removed, versions, and operating system type, and never your project files, footage, or file names.
The locally stored data listed above stays on your machine. Filmit Studio asks for your permission before collecting usage analytics. Analytics stay off until you say yes, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings under Privacy. Filmit Studio contains no advertising trackers and no session replay, and none of the data we receive from the desktop application is used for advertising. Filmit Studio does not record your screen and never accesses or transmits your project files, footage, compositions, timelines, or any creative content. The one exception is Filmit MCP, which is off unless you switch it on: while an AI assistant you connected is working in your host application, its requests and your host application’s replies (including project, sequence, clip, and layer names and any frames you ask it to look at) pass through our relay to that assistant without being stored by us, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Third-Party Technologies
The following third-party services may set their own cookies or use similar technologies when you interact with our website:

We do not control the cookies set by these third-party services. Please review their respective privacy policies for details on their data practices.
Your Choices
You have control over the cookies and local storage used on our website:
Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit filmit.io, we show a cookie consent banner. You can accept or decline analytics and advertising cookies. No tracking script is present in the page until you affirmatively accept, and a decline loads nothing at all. Essential cookies (required for the site to function) cannot be disabled.
We honor the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or extension sends a Sec-GPC header, we treat it as an automatic decline and set no analytics or advertising cookies, without showing you the banner.
You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing the filmit-cookie-consent entry in your browser storage, which returns the banner on your next visit, or by writing to support@filmit.io. Declining or withdrawing consent does not affect your access to any Filmit feature.
Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. You can also clear local storage. Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent you from signing in or using certain features.
Google Analytics Opt-Out
You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as we add or change technologies. When we do, we'll update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll let you know through our cookie banner or via email.
