License and activation
Your subscription is your license. This page explains how activation works and how to fix a tool that shows as locked.
How activation works
- Sign in to Filmit Studio with your Filmit account.
- Studio validates your subscription with our server (roughly every 30 minutes while running).
- Installed plugins read that status and unlock.
There are no keys to enter. If you are signed in and your subscription is active, your tools work.
Offline use
Plugins keep working offline using a cached license token, valid for up to 30 days without a connection. After that, open Studio while online once to refresh it.
A plugin shows a locked screen
Try these in order:
- Open Filmit Studio and confirm you are signed in.
- Wait a moment for it to re-validate, or sign out and back in.
- Check that your subscription is active in billing settings.
- Restart your editing app.
- If it persists, see Troubleshooting Studio or contact us.
A brief network hiccup or a busy connection can occasionally trigger a one-time re-validation prompt. Signing in again clears it.
Switching or adding computers
Install Studio and sign in on each of your own machines. Your subscription follows your account.
