To enhance audio inside Premiere Pro, open the Essential Sound panel (Window > Essential Sound), tag your clip as Dialogue, and pick an AI preset like Podcast voice or From the radio. Then fine-tune with the Mix Amount slider. It's built in — no external plugins or audio engineering needed.
Why use the Essential Sound panel
It's a game-changer for creators who don't have a sound engineer, are using consumer mics, or just need fast, reliable audio fixes. Instead of manually EQ'ing every clip, Premiere's AI presets do the work in a couple of clicks.
How to enhance your audio
Open Essential Sound
Go to Window > Essential Sound to open the panel where you tag clips and apply presets.
Tag the clip as Dialogue
Click your audio track (voiceover or recorded dialogue) and tag it as Dialogue. This unlocks the AI presets built for spoken voice.
Choose a preset
Under the Presets dropdown, try Podcast voice, From the radio, or Balanced background voice. Each gives a different polished tone.
Adjust the Mix Amount
Use the Mix Amount slider to set how strong the effect is, and hit play to preview the change live.
Experiment with presets
Switch between presets to find the right vibe — From television adds a broadcast-ready polish, Podcast voice suits interviews and narration. Even on a basic mic, the right preset can noticeably elevate your sound. If you edit often, make this a standard step in your post workflow.
