Filmit CallOuts is an After Effects extension that builds animated callout titles — the labeled lines and pointers you see in product demos, tech reviews, and explainers — in seconds instead of the 15–30 minutes it takes to rig one by hand. Set a start and end target, hit generate, and CallOuts draws the connecting line, elbows, label, and animation for you.
What CallOuts does
Callout titles instantly make motion graphics look more polished — highlighting a detail, labeling an object, or pointing to a spot on screen. Building them manually means shape layers, trim paths, and careful alignment for every one. CallOuts automates the whole rig and keeps it expression-linked so you can adjust everything afterward.
This video may reference an older version of CallOuts. Features and UI may have changed since recording.
Key features
- Automatic generation — set your start and end targets, hit generate, and the callout appears.
- Adjustable elbows — choose how many bends the line takes for the path you want.
- Static or animated — a fixed line or an animated draw-on with linear or Easy Ease keyframes.
- Custom styling — tweak line thickness, softness, and color in Effect Controls.
- Smart layer management — start, end, and elbow nulls are organized automatically.
- Map & travel lines — build flowing route animations across a map with the same workflow.
How it works
Open the panel
Install CallOuts from Filmit Studio and open it from Window > Extensions, then dock it in your workspace.
Set your targets
Pick the start point and the endpoint you want the line to connect.
Choose animation and elbows
Decide whether the callout animates and how many elbows it has, then click Generate.
Style and refine
Adjust thickness, softness, and color in Effect Controls, drag points to reshape the path, and rename layers then refresh to update targets.
From product feature highlights to documentary map routes, CallOuts turns a tedious manual job into a few clicks — and it's included in the Filmit Studio subscription alongside every other Filmit plugin.
