What Thermal does
Thermal recreates the look of a heat-vision camera, the glowing false-color readout where bright areas burn hot and cool areas drop into deep blues. It runs entirely on the GPU as a real After Effects, Premiere Pro, and DaVinci Resolve effect, so you get a live, render-accurate preview while you work, with none of the layer stacking or plugin chains the look usually takes.
Drop it on any clip and turn ordinary footage into a thermal feed, choosing how hard the heat ramp reads, how bright the edges glow, and whether you flip into a cold-vision mode. Every control is animatable, so you can sweep the heat across a shot or fade the look in and out.
How to use Thermal
Download Filmit Studio
Grab the free desktop app for Mac or Windows. It manages your whole Filmit library.
Install Thermal
Open the Filmit FX library inside Studio and install Thermal in one click.
Drop it on your clip
Thermal appears in your Effects panel in After Effects, Premiere Pro, and DaVinci Resolve. Drag it onto any clip.
Dial it in
Every control is live and keyframable, so tweak the look and animate it across your shot.
Dial in the exact look
Heat ramp
Map the brightness of the image to a heat gradient so hot areas glow and cool areas go dark.
Sobel edges
Trace the edges in the frame with a glowing outline like an edge-detect overlay.
Grain
Add sensor grain over the picture for the raw look of a real thermal camera.
Cold-vision invert
Flip the ramp so cool areas read bright and the whole feed reads as a cold-vision mode.
