Tiger Raft
Tiger Raft LUTs
Life of Pi-Inspired Oceanic Survival
Inspired by Life of Pi
Oceanic teals, warm sunlit skins, adventure-cinema palette.
The Look
Tiger Raft is the magical-oceanic survival grade. Built around Life of Pi's visually heightened sea palette: deeper teal water, more saturated sunset oranges, and a slight contrast lift that makes the natural lighting read as fable rather than documentary. Best on open-ocean footage, sunset compositions, and any project where the ocean is more emotional than geographic.
Inspired by Life of Pi
Life of Pi (2012) was Ang Lee's adaptation shot by DP Claudio Miranda using extensive water-tank and digital water work. The grade pushed beyond realistic oceanic vocabulary into magical realism: bioluminescent night sequences, impossibly orange sunsets, mirror-still surfaces. The look has informed every magical-realist water film since.
Best For
- Magical realism and adventure narrative on water
- Sunset and golden-hour ocean content
- Music videos with oceanic or survival direction
- Travel content from remote or visually-iconic ocean locations
- Documentary covering wildlife, conservation, or marine subjects
Color Notes
These LUTs lean heightened rather than realistic. For straight oceanic documentary, prefer Aqua Drift. The oceanic-teals variants are the most flexible; the adventure-cinema variants are for narrative work.
