Skinhead Regret
Skinhead Regret LUTs
American History X-Inspired Hard Social Drama
Inspired by American History X
Desaturated civic tones, cool highlights, dystopian palette.
The Look
Skinhead Regret is the hard-social-drama grade. Built around American History X's deliberate dual-timeline visual structure: monochrome past sequences against desaturated color present-day work. The pack provides both the high-contrast monochrome variants and the cool-shadow color variants needed to construct the same kind of temporal/moral delineation.
Inspired by American History X
American History X (1998) was Tony Kaye's racial-drama, shot with deliberate monochrome flashback sequences against color present-day scenes. The grade became a textbook example of color/monochrome contrast as moral storytelling: black-and-white past as reckoning, color present as redemption.
Best For
- Hard social drama with moral complexity
- Dual-timeline narrative needing color/monochrome contrast
- Music videos with social-justice or transformation direction
- Documentary covering radicalization, prison, or hate-crime subjects
- Anything requiring stark visual moral delineation
Color Notes
These LUTs work best in pairs across timeline shifts. Single-color work won't develop the contrast. The desaturated-civic variants handle present-day; pair with Monochrome Grief for past sequences.
