Philly Dawn III
Philly Dawn III LUTs
Rocky III-Inspired 80s Sports Cinema
Inspired by Rocky III
Punchy contrast, grit in the shadows, sweat-and-chrome warmth.
The Look
Philly Dawn III leans into the more saturated, slightly cartoonish early-80s sports cinema vocabulary of Rocky III. Brighter exteriors, more theatrical gym lighting, and the kind of contrast that suits Mr. T montages and stadium-set fight sequences. Built for projects that want the franchise vocabulary with maximum theatrical energy.
Inspired by Rocky III
Rocky III (1982) was the brightest, most commercially aggressive entry in the original Rocky trilogy. DP Bill Butler pushed saturation and contrast significantly past the first two films, producing a visual register that matches the 80s sports-cinema era more than the 70s social realism of the first.
Best For
- 80s-period sports cinema homage
- Music videos with retro sports or stadium direction
- Action-heavy training and fight content
- Cosplay and convention content with 80s-cinema themes
- Anything where the Philly Dawn vocabulary needs maximum theatricality
Color Notes
These LUTs run brighter than Philly Dawn and II. Best on already-bright source. The punchy-warm-teal-drift variant is the most universal starting point.
