Jungle War
Jungle War LUTs
Platoon-Inspired Vietnam War Realism
Inspired by Platoon
Desaturated grit, cool shadows, war-doc realism.
The Look
Jungle War is the Vietnam-era war grade. Built around Platoon's grounded, near-documentary visual approach: desaturated jungle greens, cool shadow handling, and the contrast level that makes patrol sequences feel both intimate and dangerous. The pack handles dense vegetation, mid-day jungle exteriors, and night-patrol work that defines jungle-war cinema.
Inspired by Platoon
Platoon (1986) was Oliver Stone and DP Robert Richardson's first major collaboration, drawing on Stone's actual Vietnam service. The grade rejected the bright-color heroism of earlier war films for a desaturated, grounded jungle vocabulary that has rippled through every subsequent Vietnam film: Full Metal Jacket, We Were Soldiers, the recent Da 5 Bloods.
Best For
- Vietnam-era or jungle-war narrative
- Tropical conflict or insurgency content
- Music videos with war or political direction
- Documentary covering Vietnam, Southeast Asia, or jungle warfare
- Travel content from dense-jungle regions
Color Notes
These LUTs amplify already-green source. Overcast jungle can go too cool; pull saturation 10 percent if greens dominate. The desaturated-grit variants are the genre defaults.
